We continue to watch the updates for Tropical Storm Barry carefully, and will try our best to keep you informed if we need to postpone worship services on Sunday.
St. Tammany Parish is preparing for heavy rains and possible low-lying flooding. St. Tammany Parish has an Alert System that you can sign-up to receive text messages. If you have not already done so, here is the link: smart911.com You can also get to this thru the WWLTV app and click on updates for St. Tammany Parish.
We feel certain that we will have widespread power outages, which is going to make posting to our website (stmichaelsla.org) and our Facebook page, nand sending emails difficult, but we will do the best we can. Even if we are able to send them, you might not be able to receive them.
Your safety is my upmost concern. I pray you and your family have a safe place to stay high and dry and please just use your best judgement as far as traveling roads. I’m posting my personal cell number below, so if you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to text me. If we have cell service, I certainly will get back in touch with you.
If you have not already done so, please make sure that you and your loved ones have bottled water, fresh batteries, non-perishable food, in the case of electrical loss, food and supplies for your pets and other items in case of flooding and/or power outage.
Please keep in your prayers all who are affected by storms, including first responders, utility workers and others.
Creator God, we ask you to calm the wind and the waves of the approaching hurricane, and spare those in its path from harm. Help those who are in its way to reach safety. Open our hearts in generosity to all who need help in the coming days. In all things and in all times, help us to remember that even when life seems dark and stormy, you are in the boat with us, guiding us to safety. Amen.
