Dear St. Michael’s Parishioners,

I am grateful for our ability to continue to adapt our worship, our community life, and outreach to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the world as it is today. Now more than ever I wish we could gather together, in-person, to proclaim the faith of our community. Unfortunately, that is not our current reality.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 5th, Louisiana will enter Phase 2 of re-opening public gatherings.  The Diocese has directed that we may begin worship services inside, in-person with Morning Prayer beginning June 14th.  However, my first Sunday, after returning from paternity leave, will be June 21st. I hope you will understand waiting until then to regather in-person. There are countless factors that will go into ensuring the safety of our community when we do worship together in-person. Occupying a still space for an hour is very different from shopping for groceries.

To further ensure a clean environment, we will continue with only one service at 9:00 AM for the remainder of the summer. Even though we have been limited to our computer screens, it has been wonderful to worship with EVERYONE at the same time.

At this time, the Vestry and I are working towards outfitting the Sanctuary for continued Livestreaming even after we gather back. This resource will allow those from our wider community and others the opportunity to connect during worship. As we get closer to gathering back in-person, the specific safety protocols and guidelines will be widely shared.

In the meantime, we have prepared a simple survey to help us better understand the needs of our community. Please fill out the survey through the button below by June 17th.

Finally, Liz, Liam and I all feel so loved and appreciated by the many well wishes, prayers, gifts, and love you have sent our way.  Other than the lack of sleep, parenthood has been an exciting adventure, and we look forward to sharing our journey with you, our St. Michael’s family!

I miss you, I love you, I’m praying for you, and I ask that you pray for me,
Fr. Robert
