Rev. Robert Beazley
Rector
The Rev. Robert Beazley began serving as Priest-in-Charge of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and Preschool in July 2019 before being elected as the second Rector of the parish in June 2020.
A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Robert grew up as a cradle Episcopalian and has always been fascinated by the ways in which God works through individuals and communities. This fascination led him to work and serve both domestically in rural Appalachia, Galveston, TX, and the Rosebud Indian Reservation, SD as well as in Cuba, Haiti, Germany, and Switzerland.
After taking a semester off of college to work for Episcopal Relief & Development leading rebuilding crews following Hurricane Ike in Galveston, TX, Robert completed his undergraduate studies. He then went to seminary in Sewanee, TN, where he met his wife, the Rev. Liz Embler-Beazley, who was a year below him. While he waited for her to complete her studies, he worked for the University of the South’s fundraising department assisting in their $290 million Stronger, Truer capital campaign. He was also the Curate for the five-parish South Tennessee Episcoapl Ministry. These experiences taught Robert that everything in life is based first and foremost on relationships. He brought this knowledge to New Orleans, where he served as the Associate, Chaplain, and Religion teacher of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and School.
As Rector (senior pastor and executive director), Robert is involved in every aspect of life at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and Preschool, from preaching, teaching, pastoral care, and leadership development to budgets, administration and financial stewardship, but most importantly - weekly chapel and playground time with the students. He is a prisoner of hope in the transformational work of Jesus Christ - believing that the lives we live today should make our children proud of us.
Robert holds degrees from Tallahassee Community College, the Florida State University, and the University of the South - School of Theology. He and Liz parent a beautiful son (May 2020) and daughter (August 2023).
